As one of the Caribbean’s most glamorous and sophisticated islands, Barbados enjoys an active social season. Take a look at our calendar of events for things that will be happening during your stay.


Mount Gay Sailing Week: Barbados' ultimate sailing challenge takes place from the middle to end of January.

Holders Polo Season: The season features a full series of matches until April.


Holetown Festival: Enjoy exhibitions, concerts, theatrical presentations and much more at the Holetown festival.

Agrofest – The National Agricultural Exhibition: This premier event includes displays of local livestock, vegetables, flowers and craft, as well fun demonstrations.

BPC Ladies Tour: This unique tournament pitches the ladies against the men in a keenly-fought series.


Sandy Lane Gold Cup: The Barbados Gold Cup is the most important event on the Barbados horse racing calendar. 

Holders Season: The world famous performing arts festival which is held every year on the large Holders Estate. 

Royalist Regatta Barbados:  A brilliant annual regatta staged by the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. 


Oistins Fish Festival: A celebration of everything from the sea with fabulous street food stalls and live music.

The Barbados Reggae Festival: Listen to the best in reggae music at a series of festivals and beach parties.

Barbados International Fishing Tournament: Over 200 anglers from around the world compete with locals to land blue marlin, yellowfin tuna and wahoo at this exciting competition.

The Barbados Guineas : This is the first Jewel in the Triple Crown of horse racing in Barbados.

Staff vs Guests Clarence Cup: Our annual cricket tournament takes place in April. 


Barbados May Regatta: The three-day event is held in the pristine waters of the South Coast of Barbados.

Sir Garry Sobers Festival of Golf: Each year Sir Garry Sobers, widely acclaimed as the best all-round cricketer to ever play the game, hosts this enjoyable golf tournament.

Barbados Gospelfest: Both local and international artists, musicians and minister gather for the largest gospel event in the Caribbean. 


Crop Over Festival: An annual festival celebrating the end of the sugar cane harvest.

Lucky Horseshoe Regatta: A single weekend regatta at the Barbados Yacht Club.


Barbados Cruising Club Regatta: A family friendly, fun sailing club.


United Insurance Barbados Derby: The third and Final Jewel of the Barbados Triple Crown held at the Garrison Savannah.


Surfing Nationals: This thrilling competition on the beaches of Barbados culminates in the Surfer of the Year Championships.

The Barbados Beach and Wellness Festival: Capturing the active spirit of the island, this festival will include everything from early morning beach workouts to healthy food and informative talks. Taking place on 2nd and 3rd September.

Barbados Cycling Festival: The inaugural event for cycling enthusiasts takes place from 5th to 10th September and is designed for cyclists of all abilities.


National Triathlon Championships: This annual event takes a scenic route around the island as the athletes swim, cycle and run.

Sun, Sea and Slams Festival: A surprise Barbados fact - it plays host to one of the most important annual bridge tournaments, featuring contestants from around the world.


Food & Rum Festival: The lively festival includes cookery demonstrations, tastings and plenty of parties, taking place from 116th to 19th November.

Independence Day: Celebrations to mark the nation's independence include festivals, fairs and events. On 30th November the day is marked with a grand parade. 


Run Barbados: The Run Barbados weekend includes a number of races including a fun mile, a 10k and a half marathon. Keen runners are always welcome.

Christmas Midnight Mass: Midnight mass at St. Michael's cathedral is the focal point of Barbados' Christmas celebrations, with follow-up parties and family gatherings held all over the island.

Polo Season: Polo has been a popular sport in Barbados for well over a century. The season is played at Holders and features a full series of matches through to April.
