THE STAFF

The warmth and charm of our staff are at the heart of Cobblers. Returning guests are greeted by name, their favourite cocktails remembered & how you take your coffee, the little touches that make you feel at home.

THE Gardens

Cared for with great pride by our team, the gardens are among the many charms that draw guests back to Cobblers year after year as they grow more luxurious.

Creative Director

Sam oversees every aesthetic detail at Cobblers Cove, from the refurbishment of our buildings & gardens to the design of our menus, art collection, chinaware, fabrics & furniture. She also curates the boutique, selecting distinctive island-made products, the finest regional literature for your bookshelves & luxurious botanical amenities for your bathrooms.

Working closely with local craftsmen; carpenters, metalworkers, ceramicists & basket weavers. Sam creates bespoke pieces for the suites, ensuring that each space feels authentically Barbadian. The patterns on our textiles & the charming designs on our restaurant chinaware were developed by Sam in collaboration with talented island artists.

Throughout the property, you’ll encounter the work of these distinguished artists, thoughtfully introduced to Cobblers by Sam. In the evenings, as you relax at the bar, you’ll be accompanied by performances from some of Barbados’ finest musicians so that the very best of Barbados is around you all the time.

THE WEATHER

We enjoy glorious year-round sunshine, with typical temperatures of 28–29°C & very little seasonal variation- there is truly no bad time to visit. Days are bright and golden; evenings soft and balmy.

Rainfall is highest from July to October, when the island becomes especially lush and luminous & the sea turns its clearest, most sparkling blue. Tropical rain showers may pass through, but hurricanes generally track along land masses & tend to bypass Barbados, which sits 150 miles east of the main Caribbean chain. The island last experienced a major hurricane in 1955.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

Preserving Barbados’ natural beauty is at the heart of everything we do. We harvest rainwater for our gardens and use solar panels to provide warm water across the hotel. Approximately 70% of the food we serve is grown on the island, and our water- Eco Sky Water- is distilled & bottled here with zero emissions.
To help us care for this precious environment, we invite you to avoid requesting imported foods like strawberries, oysters, or salmon & to choose reef-safe sun lotions that safeguard the island’s delicate marine life.

Around the Island

There is so much to experience in Barbados. Enjoy deep-sea fishing for mahi-mahi, barracuda & tuna during the game season from January to April; surf the swells of the South and East Coasts; or take to the water on a catamaran cruise. Diving is excellent throughout the year, with abundant marine life, perfect summer conditions & visibility ranging between 40–70°F.

For sports enthusiasts, cricket training is available at a superb facility run by Bajan national and former county cricketer Franklyn Stephenson, while three world-class golf courses lie within easy reach of Cobblers Cove.

The island’s polo season runs from January to May & horse racing takes place at the historic Barbados Turf Club, established in 1905 with around 25 race meetings each year at the Garrison Savannah. Barbados also hosts world-class cricket at the iconic Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

Beyond sport, you might explore the island’s many rum shacks, tour its spectacular tropical gardens, venture into the wild highlands & along the rugged East Coast, visit a rum distillery, or join a fascinating guided heritage tour led by the Barbados National Trust.

A Brief History

The Great House was built in the 1940’s, on the site of an old Quaker battery station, using the steel of the old island railway for its structure & solid coral stone for cladding. Then a sea-side home, known as Camelot for the Haynes family, it was purchased by the present owners in 1968 & re-named Cobblers Cove after the frigate birds you will see in the bay. By the 1980’s Cobblers had an international reputation for luxury & fine food & we have now been a much-loved, family-owned hotel for coming up to sixty years, our popularity owing to our staff, our spectacular gardens & our prime sea-front location.
